Frequently Asked Questions

How do you calculate the number of days between two dates?
We compute the absolute difference between the two dates in UTC to avoid timezone and daylight-saving issues. The result is the total number of calendar days, which we also break down into weeks + remaining days, business days (Mon–Fri), and weekend days (Sat–Sun).
What counts as a business day?
A business day is any day from Monday through Friday. Saturdays and Sundays are excluded. Note that public holidays are country-specific and are not excluded by this calculator — only weekends are removed from the count.
Can I add or subtract business days instead of calendar days?
Yes. In the "Add/Subtract Days" tab, check the "Exclude Weekends" option. The calculator will then skip Saturdays and Sundays when counting forward or backward, giving you the resulting date in business days only.
What is a D-Day calculator?
A D-Day calculator counts the number of days from a reference date (often today) to a target date. It is commonly used for anniversaries, contract deadlines, exam countdowns, and pregnancy milestones. Our "Days Between" tab does exactly this.
