Everyday Tools & Converters

Thirty-nine file and utility tools. The file ones, PDF, image, video, audio, archives, matter most for privacy, because a file is a much larger disclosure than a number: a scanned contract, a screen recording of internal software, a photo of your family. Every one of them processes the file on your own machine, and the libraries doing the work are served from this domain rather than pulled from a CDN, so opening a tool contacts no third party.

Working with PDFs

Eleven tools cover the operations people usually reach for a paid desktop app to perform. Merge joins several files in the order you choose and split extracts a page range into a new document. Delete pages, rotate, and organise handle the corrections a scanner leaves behind, a sideways page, a blank one, a batch fed in backwards. Page numbers and watermark stamp a document before you send it, and the metadata editor shows and rewrites the title, author, and other fields stored inside the file, which often still name whoever first created it. The PDF compressor reduces file size when a form refuses an upload. Between formats, PDF to images renders pages as PNG or JPG at a resolution you pick, and images to PDF combines photos and scans into one document.

Images

The image editor crops, resizes, and rotates, and the image compressor trades quality for size on JPEG, PNG, and WebP with the quality slider under your control rather than a fixed preset. Three converters handle format changes for specific reasons: PNG to JPG when a screenshot is needlessly large, JPG to PNG when you need lossless or transparency, and image to WebP when you are shipping to the web and want roughly a quarter to a third off at the same visual quality.

Video and Audio

The video compressor re-encodes with H.264 to get a file under a size limit, and the video editor trims, cuts, and joins MP4 clips on a timeline. The GIF maker converts a clip to an animated GIF with control over crop, width, frame rate, and captions, worth using only when the destination refuses video, since a GIF is far larger than the equivalent MP4. The audio extractor pulls the sound out of a video as an M4A file holding AAC audio, and the audio converter moves between common audio formats.

Archives

ZIP creator bundles several files into one archive, ZIP extractor opens ZIP and GZIP archives and lets you preview the contents and pull out a single file without unpacking everything, and the GZIP compressor produces the format used for web transfer and backups.

Calculators

Three, for three different jobs. The standard calculator covers everyday arithmetic with memory keys, the scientific calculator adds trigonometry, logarithms, exponentials, and constants, and the programmer calculator shows HEX, DEC, OCT, and BIN side by side with bitwise operations.

Codes and Scanning

The QR code generator encodes URLs, text, Wi-Fi credentials, and vCard contacts, exporting PNG or SVG. The barcode generator covers the retail and logistics symbologies, Code 128, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, Code 39, ITF-14, Pharmacode. The QR & barcode reader goes the other way, decoding a code from an image you paste, drop, or upload.

Units, Numbers, and Text

The universal unit converter handles length, weight, volume, temperature, and area in one place, and the temperature converter focuses on Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin with reference points and the formulas written out. The Roman numeral converter reads and writes numerals up to several million, and the number to words converter spells figures out in English, Korean, Chinese, or Spanish for cheques and legal documents. The random number generator and the coin flip & dice roller both draw from the browser's cryptographic random source rather than Math.random, and the text to binary / Morse converter translates in both directions.

Counting and Scheduling

The word & character counter reports words, characters, sentences, and reading time, which is what you need when a brief sets a limit. The time zone converter lines up several zones at once and highlights the overlapping business hours, so a meeting across three regions can be settled by looking rather than by arithmetic.
